Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben with related works by Grieg, Strauss, Mahler, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, and others.
Susan Graham, “America’s favorite mezzo” (Gramophone), returns to PCMS, applying her lustrous voice and exquisite tones to Schumann’s Frauenliebe und Leben (A Woman’s Love and Life), a beloved eight-song cycle sung from a woman’s perspective. Graham and pianist Bradley Moore have designed a program that supplements Schumann’s work with songs of similar content from various composers around the world, with eight languages represented overall.
